After just eight months of construction, our shuttle warehouse and the entire conveyor system are complete. An important step for our new distribution center in the neighboring Czech Republic.
These figures give a sense of what has been built in Chomutov:
- The conveyor route is over 4 km long—roughly the same distance as from our Head Office in Hamburg to the Outer Alster.
- More than 56,000 rollers and over 1,800 motors ensure a smooth flow of materials.
- The shuttle warehouse has 15 aisles and 26 floors—an automated high-rise for our logistics.
- Over 200,000 screws and 728 tons of steel were used in its construction, which is equivalent to the weight of 526 VW Golfs.
As the newest of our 10 global sites, Chomutov strengthens our global production and logistics network. Here, we’re bringing warehousing and distribution under one roof and taking processes that we previously handled through external partners into our own hands—so we can work even faster, more flexibly, and more effectively for our customers.
We are currently conducting intensive testing of the interaction between technology, IT, and processes. Our goal is clear: the first e-commerce packages are scheduled to be shipped from Chomutov in early 2027.
